Full Dress Bikes. (with at least fenders)

I've been thinking about getting that seat and handle bars for my bike because i think the brown leather look will pair well with the sage green. Are they comfortable?

I like the frame too. It's why it was the front runner on the list i'd given my folks on what to look for. Components are negotiable, frame? That's the base everything else bolts onto. Well ya. One of the best bikes I'd seen under $600 was the Schwinn cutback and it was $99 when it was for...

New Guy with a (Don't Laugh) Walmart Bike

So told my stepdad about what i'd done to the bike. tightening, adjusting, everything needing grease. Yadda yadda. 'sounds like you got a piece of junk.' Truthfully? Yea, I did. Cheapest parts on a heavy frame assembled by whatever poor shmuck drew short straw. And I knew that going in when...

Just joined this week. I live in South Texas, am 66 and a professional Santa Claus.

This crime cannot stand! We must find this Santa his bike! In all seriousness though, good luck to you sir. You deserve a good bike. Any local co-op or ride groups?

[help wanted] Best focus to make an ACTUAL Huffy Parkside SE

Questions: Can anyone help me figure out what the frame's geometry is? Is that even something important in my use case? Any advice when dealing with cabling? Also Should I at all consider going up or down a tire size? Pros/cons of doing so? I'm only asking from an academic standpoint on this...

Dude like other posters have said even with just parts you came out way ahead here. Now to actually strip it down and do a full restoration? Duuuuude.

The grease I'm using has kind of a blueish look to it. Unsure of brand it's just in the grease gun. I am rather pleased at how just a little bit of grease and parts tightening is making it feel a lot nicer.

One short ride later and... yea the gear that feels most neutral to me has gone up from second to fourth gear on flat ground. I could've sworn when i did the crank and chainring replacement the back wheel spun free so wonder when the misalignment happened. Everything seems fine now though...

Except the video I linked to is threaded. At least my headset matches the one there. I've yet to try taking the fork off because fear of losing bearings.

I presume that works for loosening the headset too for the sake of cleaning and regreasing. The headset on mine looks like that, though I have v brakes instead of calliper. I have to wonder why low end big box bikes tend to have quill stems instead of every product line across the board...

Eh considering just buying one They aren't that expensive and will be useful to minimize 'oh god that's not an insignificant amount of money' bike shop visits. Plus, half the fun of a bike is working on it. At least for me.

HUH that explains why it wasn't rolling right. Tire was misaligned. Don't know if it'd always been like that, if the dog had knocked it out of line. Given it went back to right and there was no obvious warping (given my vision i couldn't tell if there were minor defects, very likely were.)...

OK that bike is just plain... nuts looking. It's like 'ok where's the rest of it?'

What did it for you? why did you get hooked on bikes and hooked on this web site?

As one of the frequent signatures I see here puts it 'It doesn't matter WHAT you ride. It is THAT you ride.' And honestly? It feels nice to get out, even if it is mostly puttering around because I have no way to access the local trail systems on my own (seriously the trails bikeworthiness does...

I am in awe and amazed. What is this tool called. probably something obvious. Still. I enjoy that I do have paths ahead if something happens to the integrated hanger. Took the front fork off (did NOT take the cups out) and yep, short fork with the quill stem sliding into the inside of the fork...

What did it for you? why did you get hooked on bikes and hooked on this web site?

Well given my poor eyesight preventing me from driving it started with 'lack of options' for mobility and while that sorta forced the matter? There is a certain amount of relaxation just hopping on and Going. Doesn't matter where. Problems? That's for later. Just. Go. i've been on a few other...

1989 Specialized Stump Jumper Revival Begins!

OOOF.... Ya opening something up that's been allowed to sit and collect crud is never gonna be pretty. I salute you for your dedication to restoring the original part instead of buying a new fork.

Still tempted to get the better deralliur because the whole point is 'do what Huffy chose not to and make the special edition actually.. Special.' Plus the parts aren't out of line. That said I do agree that eventually I will outgrow the bike. It's mostly a matter of 'this was a gift from my...
