    Chain woes

This trike I have is like new blue in color. Got it for 65.00 because hub had issues. Guy just wanted it gone. Older models were called Trifectas but same bike as a Porto. These are awsome little guys to ride. I ordered my link on Ebay a week ago but has not come yet. Tracking thru USPS shows...

    Chain woes

808 this one had the 3 speed double chain hub but had internal issues so I tossed it and converted to a one speed freewheel. Exact setup as a factory one speed. The original 3 speed did not have a half link but chain was longer and did not require one. There is a half link listed in the Porto...

    Chain woes

I have tried everything. Not knowing the original chain specs I built a chain but was alittle too long. I shortened it slightly and was so tight you couldnt turn the crank. That stupid idler takes very little slack out. I am waiting on my half link in the mail and will take some pics showing...

    Chain woes

Rusty NOW YA GOT IT!!!!! Thats exactly what I am having to do. Result will be a 95 pin chain. Tomo I am gonna call Worksman and see what length chain fits a single speed freewheel Porto trike. They have to use a half linked chain. See no other way. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    Chain woes

Rusty the first 2 pics in this thread are backwards. The last pic I just posted today If I couple the chain together as you see it right there (using the master link pictured ) its VERY TIGHT. Add a half link chain is perfect. Has to be a 95 pin chain nothing else. This thing is so...

    Chain woes

Ok pretend the master link is not in this pic only the 2 identical chain ends. When I install my half link to one of the chain ends both ends of the chain will still look the same (no outer side plates) You cannot join the chain in this pic together without a master link. Because both...

    Chain woes

With my half link installed both ends of chain will be for the "inside" so theres no choice but to put a master link in to be able to couple together. Right???? Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    Chain woes

The half link cost me 3.75 free shipping compared to the pack of 10 master links I bought for 1.53 free shipping. This is the first time I have ever encountered using a half link. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    Chain woes

The complete chain has 95 pins. (47 1/2 links?) 94 pins VERY tight 96 pins way too loose to adjust. I have built plenty of bike chains but this has to be the finickiest one ever. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    axel size?

I put a smaller 5/16 axle in this front rim in order to fit the spade fork. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    axel size?

I have swapped the axle from an older rim with small axle and put them into a rim from a modern bike that had a larger axle in order to use an aluminum mtb rim onto older spade forks. The parts dont always swap but some will. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    Chain woes

UPDATE Dont know how to count exact links but using a half link and a master link the completed proper chain has 95 pins. Bike is set up factoryb36 front and 20t freewheel chain properly routed OVER idler cog. Any one pin more or less and chain will not work. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    Chain woes

Factory gearing is 36/20 .I swap out the crank for one from a mtn bike with 7 1/2 in arms and they ride much nicer. That idler cog is cheesy but with a rigid frame its the only way to adjust. Its slotted a good bit but takes little slack out of the chain. Hers another one I paid 25.00 for this...

    Chain woes

Putting chain on TOP of idler. The bike was a 3spd but the hub was bad so I converted to a freewheel. My setup would be exactly as a one speed from the factory. I bet the factory chain on a one speed trike had a half link too. Heres an older one I had. Note it has NO provisions for chain...

I had to share this thing. Saw this on local CL. The plastic body is in bad shape and they want a huge price 300.00. N3ver saw one before. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

Not a "How To" but an exercise in problem solving

I never have liked V brakes. I like the old calliper style. Got them in my junk parts stash. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

I ended up getting a half link on Ebay. Called a couple of bike shops who had no clue what I wanted. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk

    Chain woes

The first pic I posted is a new chain. Using the master link its very tight. If I go get the half link and add it I think all should be fine. Will call my LBS tomo. Didnt know they made half links. I have had 2 older Worksman Trifectas. Same bike as a Porto only black. They were one speed...

    Chain woes

Rusty that half link deal may work. This bike has an idler sprocket that adjusts the chain tension once a proper length chain can be fashioned. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk
