Actually , I only went down to a 44 tooth, original was a 46. The bike is still kinda tall geared, but better than it was for sure.

We are hanging on to it forever. The bike is a '56 Corvette. We bought that at College Cyclery (where Karfer67 works) back in about 97 or so. My wife rode it when we were younger and then it got stuck in storage untill just recently when I got back into bicycles in a major way. Just got it back...

I went down and got some shims from my Bike Guru (karfer67), at my LBS. I'm gonna give those a try first.

I was kinda hoping somebody made a quill that fit 7/8 bars that still looked "old school", but I dunno - that BMX one you pointed out to me might look kinda bad@ss. You're right about the increased clamping force too, might be the way to go. Thanks

The bars are 7/8 outside diameter throughout, they don't have the "bulge" up to 1 inch like most bars. Oh, & I saw those shims, might give those a try.... I believe the steerer tube is 1 inch inside diameter, not 1 1/8. I think all the Schwinn cruisers are like this.

Hi guys, I just got an order from Electra, fork struts and bars I am putting on my 07 Schwinn cruiser. I made the 23" struts fit with a little bending and they look awesome. Problem is, the ape hangers I got are 7/8 size all the way through. I guess I need a new stem ? - will I have to use a...

Thanks for the help guys. My measurement from the bottom of the head nut to the center of the axle is about 22" - which would mean the shorts would be too short by an inch. I think I might try the long struts and maybe either try to arch them more to fit, or drill my own axle slot higher up or...

Hey guys, Anyone know where I can get a set of chrome fork struts for my 07 Schwinn? I know Electra has them for sale on their site, but anyone know if they fit a Schwinn cruiser? I have this bike: It's my everyday ride now. I think the struts would look awesome on my bike. Thanks!

Got my pedals and new grips on. These bars are growin on me, kinda have a motorcycle look to them, I just tilted them forwards a bit. I might save my apes for my next build I already have in mind. I also have a black diamond-quilted seat on the way for this bike. Fun sheeot!
