The way I do mine is to paint it with a color close to it, then while paint is slightly tacky black it out using a kerosene lamp turned up high so that it covers it in black, let paint dry then rub off with steel wool. It darkens most colors and yellows white. 8)

Here is my build off bike, had it for a while and have an idea were I will be going with it. Also have a pic of a tank I have bought for it off ebay, what a match. They are just a shade off but I think I can pull it off. 8)
