    RED A** MONKEY FINISHED

I'll be watching this one. Can you keep the weight under 30 pounds? Alloy bars would help. Also, that rack is nice, but it weighs more than both of the wheels put together. :D

Thoughts on riding long distance. Well, 20 miles.

Yep. I'm getting a bell for the bike sometime before next weekend.

Thoughts on riding long distance. Well, 20 miles.

The "Bayshore Bikeway" is a bike route around San Diego Bay. It's mostly flat, a lot of it's bike path with no motorized vehicle traffic. It's been my favorite ride for a long time, so I thought about taking the old Schwinn around it- I just got back from the ride. So I thought it would be...

Here's the The repro Schwinn back rack, if you've wondered...

It came with a second strut, but to save weight, I figured on bracketing it to the top fender brace. Thanks, mikee!

Here's the The repro Schwinn back rack, if you've wondered...

It's I think, powder coated, and seems OK. The mounting hardware it comes with is heavy and ugly. It's a Chinese reproduction of the old Schwinn "Phantom" rear rack, and fits OK on my old 1964 middleweight Schwinn. I wanted it because it can be a grocery getter, but it's not too bad looking, but...

Why were girl's bikes blue and boy's bikes red?

Back in the 60's my sister's bikes were always blue, and mine were red. I know that other colors were available, but generally it was red boy's/blue girl's Who started this? Why? o_O

Your Rat ridden most miles per year.....

I've spent a few weekends truing wheels, straightening/aligning the fork and dropouts, replacing/lubing the bearings, and generally making this bike a rider. Thanks to member outsider13 for selling me a really cherry Bendix RB-2 hub/brake! This bike rolls nice! Many happy miles to come!

Mike Wolfe of American Pickers & FELT Bicycles create the "Red Wolfe" Bike

The reality of the situation is that not everybody can bring a 50+ year old bike, that was previously owned by a kid :D, back to rideable life. So they make these quasi-vintage bikes like that Felt. I love my old Schwinn, but honestly it was a lot of work to make it a rider. I can't imagine...

I'm curious as to the location of this so called "armpit". Please elaborate.

    My Latest Selling Experience.

Sometimes with Craigslist, both selling and buying, it's difficult to figure out what motivates people to do some of the weird crap they try to do. I sold a bike recently and at least 5 people offered half the price I posted. Another 5 wanted me to deliver the bike to them so the they could...

    Old Wearwell Cycle Co. build

Beautiful bike. I would ride it all day. I've always liked this type of bike. One of my Holy Grails is a mint condition Peugeot UE-8.

    Does this fork look bent?

Ya, it's bent. But it can be straightened using the Sheldon Brown 2X4 method.

Nice bike! Don't see many in that frame size. Raleigh chrome is some of the best.

It's not vintage, but here's my 2000 Sportster. It gets me to work some days.
