Pre-war Elgin, a new project begins

Ithought Long Beach was mostly for moto's, but Thanks a ton never-the-less. I'm getting close to getting most of the parts put together. I just snagged the stem this week have a seat, seat post and chainring that are supposedly in the mail. Really just need the appropriate handlebar. Been...

Pre-war Elgin, a new project begins

Geez my friend! I'm going to have to start hitting garage sales. TCN PS. saw you a couple days ago commuting on the Merc on Calle Cristobol. Would've honked, but I didn't want you to jump out of your skin. Bike looks great!

Pre-war Elgin, a new project begins

Yeah, I really like DMF. I'm in the process of putting together parts for a trip up there. I still have a few key pieces to put together before then and I'm glad to see that they did a good job on small parts. The seat is great. I've been looking for something similar for my build. Problem...

Pre-war Elgin, a new project begins

Looks nice Aaron! The chrome came out very nice and I can't wiat to see it complete. You're making a lot better progress than I. What did you decide to do with the seat? Too cool not to use. Tim

A Tribute for Dad is delivered to a happy guy!

Re: A Tribute for Dad, first mock up I've been following this thread just to see the look on your Dad's face when he gets this. Great bike, great thread. Thanks!

afternoon rat (need help with an i.d.)

Probably not a Mead Ranger. More likely an Hawthorne or an Elgin. These motobike style frames where mass produced by a number of companies and were sold under a number of different brands making it difficult to absolutely identify it. The New departure model C rear hub will help date the bike...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Spent Father's Day working on the project (best present my family could've given me). Dirty, nasty, hard, manual work, but we're almost ready for Paint!

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Thanks, but I'm going to assume you're refering to the Pereira, I wish I could say I did that but that was done by the Coat Paint shop in Portland OR. They are the in house paint shop for Vanilla Cycles. It is my dream that what I'm doing turns...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Thanks! Unfortunately I've got a ways to go. While the frame was structurally sound, the surface was pitted worse than I originally thought. It's especially obvious when you look at the headtube and the area surrounding where the Head Badge had...

A 1936 Mercury is getting a new life.

Aaron, Thank you for the compliment and back at you. Between your Merc and the brave, you've got me beat. As for the new project, you score the Klunker lover's holy grail and no pictures?????? What gives??????

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Obviously, that was my draw to the frame as well. One of the ideas I've been toying with is painting this to match my Pereira. Thought is would be cool to have the two together. I'm having difficulty tracking down a comparable color in an...
