I have always wanted one of these Western Flyer X-53's, so I brokedown and bought one from a guy in KC a while back. It arrived in 2 boxes the other day. Not as good as it looks,this bike was rode hard and put away wet, if you know what I mean. It is covered with road tar, grime and rust. Wheel...

Bluesman Doug MacLeod ... aka "Dubb" with his National Reso-Phonic guitar and my Dubb's Grocery delivery bike. He performed a private concert at The Deines Cultural Arts Center here in beautiful downtown Russell, KS. He had the basket loaded up with his CD's ... oh yeah !

Thanks for the comments guys ... the circles on the basket are vintage red marble reflectors. I got them off an old truck. They measure about 5" in diameter. Also have an old bread advertising sign on the front of the basket. This old bike rides like a dream !

I have been a fan of that X-53 ever since I first saw it ...I picked one up a couple of weeks ago ... got it all tore down ... startin to clean parts and put it back together ... hope my result is as good as yours ... Thanks for the inspiration ... rr

Here are some pics of my 37-38 Roadmaster Cycle Truck built by The Cleveland Welding Co. This bike was found abandoned and left for dead on a farm in western KS. Every moving part was rusted solid and had to be heated for disassembly. The large basket was smashed and not useable but I got lucky...
