    Bent frame!

I finally had a guts to apply some force to the frame tonight. Fiddled with 2x4 for a while to visualize how the frame should be corrected. Wrapped headtube and BB shell (really didn't need to). Pushed gently for a couple of minutes first. Didn't do a ...... thing. So I pulled slowly for...

    Bent frame!

Little by little sounds like a plan. Interesting way to measure, sounds like a field alignment check they do on rally stages. I'll try that tomorrow! Thanks guys. I have another better aligned frame but I don't want to give up this easily :D

    Bent frame!

Yes I built a true wheel and is dished equally :D This, no matter how I position my rear wheel, rear tire butts against right seat stay. Chain stay alignment is nicely balanced, so I concluded that either left rear section is pushed up, or right seat stay is way too low. Perhaps endured a...

    AMF made Shelby Flyer (Cleveland)

Thanks Phil, I appreciate your knowledge and insight in AMF bikes. I'm glad this bike excited you a bit, and I know this topic would draw a blank face to anyone that I would talk to around here. My wife can't understand why I "bother with junks". :D I want to make it a fully functional beer...

    AMF made Shelby Flyer (Cleveland)

Thanks for the info rms, it makes sense with the patent Schwinn had on cantilever frame. Interesting bits on the seatpost bolt. Gotta check it out tomorrow. Here are some close ups. Pardon my ignorance, but what would make these pedals interesting? I was going to replace them with my...

    AMF made Shelby Flyer (Cleveland)

AMF made Shelby Cycle Company Flyer. Or so it says. It barely moved, let alone coasted... Wheel rust is seen particulaily worse on one quartile of the rim, so I'm guessing it was parked for a long time in one spot. Weird, front and rear rims are a bit different. Front maybe a replaced (have...

My (new to me) coaster hub

As cpodom said, the roller bearings rides up the center of the bearing lace which is raised, to bind and lock up the clutch to transfer the sproket rotation onto the axle. Pretty nifty stuff. Rust on rims are wide spread, and I wasn't successful at scrubbing it off nicely. I just want a pair...

My (new to me) coaster hub

I finally had a couple of hours today so started taking the rear hub apart. Spokes are not damaged, just totally loose. I'll probably just true them but may just leave the rust on rims as they kind of shows patina (right?). Rear wheel currently doesn't turn smoothly at all. Started from...

My (new to me) coaster hub

Hi, first time posting here, I admire all of your creations! I recently picked up 1950-something Ohino built AMF Shelby, and trying to work on the coaster hub as the first project. But this thing looks different from the overhaul guide in Park Tool web site. I'm wondering if anyone have any...
