They were "non functional", they could run, but they were missing a few components that kept them from running. Makes me wonder if anybody made one run.
So an update on the Cobbler; I had stripped parts from it with intentions to rebuild and donate it to the bike co-op last year. I kinda got bored with it and wanted something a bit lighter. Plus Cranbrooks seem to come and go in my life, this was my fourth or fifth one.
I more or less traded it...
That black one could be another Sierra or High Sierra. Could be a Mesa or Mesa Grande. You'd hafta check the numbers since it was most likely repainted. Schwinns labels weren't sticker back then, they're painted on.
The one I have. The stem came from a broken Lotus Pegasus I had. The only other brakes that'll swap are Ubrakes. I kinda wanted another to put Ubrakes on and modernize it a bit more and keep this on a bit more vintage.
It's probably Hi-Ten steel. Most of those cheapo Fixie/ss bikes are, like Pure Fix and State. I'm not saying 600 is cheap, but by the eyes of the companies and the hardcores[BikeForum users], it is. When it comes to these bikes, that's about low/mid. The pricer bikes tend to use better steel...
You guys probably knew this one already, but for those who don't, it's a nice trick.
Long story short; last year I came across two abandoned bikes on my trip downtown a few blocks apart, one of my favorite bikes; a Cranbrook, and a bike I had been wanting since I saw them, I think a year...
I run a 48/16 on my LaJolla and Olympic, single speeds, and both of them move pretty good, so a 47/16 shouldn't be too far off. If it's called the Tiger Lilly, maybe add some flower stuff to it, like grips, chain gaurd, and badge?
I have also two different ashtabula bmx 3pc I can put on it, once I get bolts for them. I love Cranbrooks, but I kinda want a bigger lighter frame to swap the parts on. I've been seeing these new cruisers everywhere, that look alloy, and might be bigger, no clue what they are.
I needed a spare bike and threw this one together. I did welding, so it counts as a build. I made cable guides from an ink pen I cut up and zip tied them on there. I think it has that muscle bike look, with that 650b back wheel.Last one was me at a bar with zero bike parking. There was a group...
The Darley-Havidson is looking pretty good. I think I might take my moped to a more boardtracker look, than cafe racer.
Also chrome is hard to paint, the colors are limited, but duplicolor makes a paint called Metalcast that's designed to cover chrome and alloys with a anodized look. Also you...
They're small cruisers, I have one. I always liked the way they looked, and they're light. Mine is an ongoing project as I source more red stuff for it. And I want a front brake that's not a sidepull.
Girvins are hard as shiznit to find- I found one on ebay for super chrap, about 4 days before the auxtion ended, made a bid and then everybody and they greasy grandmammie wanted in on it. I needed it for a build, and to reverse engineer for another project.
How's you do that doublr chain setup...
As of last month or so; I've been seeing this cruiser all over the place, and I kinda like it. At first I thought it was geared only, but I've seen a few ss versions, I saw a blue one, but most are silver. I don't know what the frame is, I just call it a false cantilever, because it looks like a...
