    Schwinn and Tires

I'd have to go back and read the original post, but I doubt it said that any fractional tire will fit on any other fractional rim. That's simply not true. What is true is that no fractionally-sized tire will fit on the Schwinn S2. There's actually five common 26" tire sub-families, four of...

    Schwinn and Tires

Bike tires are weirdly sized by their overall diameter, tread-to-tread. What you REALLY need is the size of the hole in the middle, in order to make an informed decision. The ISO numbers help eschew this confusion by providing what is called the Bead Seat Diameter (BSD). In your case, you're...

Also, great job getting the booths set-up promptly, and....properly functioning! I imagine that's a Herculean task in itself.

And, I wouldn't go overboard with the faux-tina treatment. Just try to get all the tins to look similar to the tank. It's a lot less 'ratty' than the frame surface.

Well...I don't โ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘’ it. I imagine what paint finishes you choose would have a big impact on the final appearance, so it's hard to judge from a mock-up.

    Schwinn DX newbie help

How did I miss that relic build by Old Shovel?! Anyway... The numbered items constitute two major bearing groups. Items #1, 2, 3, 5, & 8 are from the crank set/bottom bracket assembly. The remaining items #4, 6, 7, 9, 10, & 11 are from the headset/steering. The loose bearings are...

Very envious of the chubby rubber, my friend. I wish Schwinn had made them more widely available. What were buyers expected to do once their original tires wore out? Buy a brand new bike, I guess.

The backfills turned out real nice. For anyone who doesn't know, there is a dedicated tool for that purpose. It's called a "flow pencil," and it looks a lot like an airbrush, but is gravity-fed--no compressor needed.

I wonder if dabbing on the mustard with crumpled foil or wax paper, rather than a brush, would allow for a more ragged, natural transition.
