    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

Just for the heck of it, I put on a stem and a seat post and rode around without brakes. Rides so nice I might rethink putting an engine on it... Just kidding.

    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

Its been a while since I last posted, I got really busy. This past week I had some free time so I did get some work done. For starters, the chunk I cut out of the chainstay was enough for the sprocket to clear but not the chain, so I ended up just cutting out a three inch section and welding in...

    Flywheel shaving and alternators

As in the carbon fiber scoop like things for the cylinder head or the shroud that encases the flywheel?

Turned a hub for the freewheel on the jackshaft and put a set screw on it, and welded the freewheel directly to the hub. Also ground away part of the left chain stay to give the sprocket enough clearance.

    Flywheel shaving and alternators

Awesome. Ill pick up a dynamo. Great idea for the balancing. I guess i'll weigh the engine before and after removing the cooling fins to find out the weight of the fins, then add weights to the flywheel as you described to compensate for balance. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Flywheel shaving and alternators

Thanks for responding. I would like the bike to be self sufficient. Having a battery wouldn't be an issue, I'm just exploring options.

    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

Weekly Update! Welded on the jackshaft bearing block mounts. And here are the bearing blocks bolted on with the jackshaft stock in place And the jackshaft stock cut to length and all of the parts mocked up (clutch, freewheel, pulley). Freewheel adapter is temporary, I will turn a better...

    Flywheel shaving and alternators

And about an alternator: i would like to have a headlight. Will magneto alternators off ebay work paired with a small battery? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Flywheel shaving and alternators

The placement of the engine, a briggs and stratton 3hp on my bike (see profile for build thread) is such that my leg will get ripped to shreds by the cooling fins on the flywheel. Can i machine these fins off without affecting the balancing and stabilizing nature of the flywheel, and if i can...

    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

The exhaust routing is a good idea. I already needed to move it so the belt from the engine to the jackshaft clears. Will do thanks

Thanks! It is just plain mild steel tube like you'd find at your local steelyard or the steel bin at home depot.

    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

It will be pedal start and will also be able to be pedaled like a regular bike. Its kind of hard to visualize, it'll be clearer when I mount the jackshaft and all of the components that go on it- coming soon!

    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

And this is just about where I am currently. Note: the fork is in its full compressed state, not to worry, I have about 2" of clearance between the down tube and the front tire, which will increase when I turn a new spacer for the fork to make the head tube angle more slack.

    Board Tracker/ Moped Conversion

Problem #2: Sprocket hole pattern doesn't match the brake disc mount hole pattern on the wheel. I suppose stuff like that happen every now and then when buying parts direct from China. Solution: fill in the old hole with weld, face the sprocket on the mill, re drill the holes.
