let me see your chopper bicycles

Thanks, yea. Basically. Drilled holes in the chainstays of the add-on bit, then just bolt into the dropouts of the main frame. Kinda ghetto/oldschool but people seem to like it. Plus it was an excuse to use up parts I just had laying around.

let me see your chopper bicycles

Finished up this one today.... Built this one out of spare parts I had laying around...thought I'd put some to use...Simpson Sears Fleetwing main frame, CCM rear end and crankset. some double walled MTB rims and MTB tires I happen to have. Seat post is a walmart bike special stem with the...

New Departure Servicing/rebuild advice? (Also what model do I have?)

Bit of a follow up. What type of 30w oil? at the time of rebuilding all I had was some 15w30 engine oil that I used on the discs. I am noticing some squeaks after long brake intervals, like going down some of the hills in my area. So, Maybe I should just pull the clutch out and get some...

Looking for a Schwinn Head Badge for a 1954 Spitfire.

Looking for either a colour matched green badge, blue or I'll even take a white. Not sure what one is worth. Ideally, I'm looking for this one. Not looking for NOS or anything. want something with patina. Located in Ontario Canada.

New Departure Servicing/rebuild advice? (Also what model do I have?)

It was a Model D, after wiping off the grime. Tore it apart, greased it up and works so much better now. Night and day.

New Departure Servicing/rebuild advice? (Also what model do I have?)

So, I got a '54 Schwinn Spitfire this past weekend, Rear hub is a New Departure and I believe it's the "Model A" or the "Model C" variant, going by Sheldon Brown's website. The hub shell has a cylindrical shape and the same oil/grease port like the Model C but it's got the Brake arm style text...

    My first Schwinn.

Yea, they're S-2 rims as far as I can tell, 2 knurled bands on the rims, one on each side of the spokes. Yea, jumped on it when I seen it. Keeper for the collection for sure. Though I own more American made bikes than Canadian ones now, lol. Yea, I also thought it could've been a Hornet with...

    My first Schwinn.

Picked up a1954 Schwinn Spitfire off Facebook this past weekend. Came with a Goodyear Speedway tire, everything looks to be original, Schwinn grips, Mesinger seat...Missing a head badge. What one would this bike have had? I've seen a colour matched one with Schwinn on the top of the badge and...

    1989 Specialized Rockhopper Comp rebuild/restore.

T-tops or bust. Best features of 70s/80s cars: Pop up headlights and T-tops, oh and digital gauges.

    1989 Specialized Rockhopper Comp rebuild/restore.

I was born in 89', so having a MTB as old as I am is kinda fun. Now I just need a 1989 Trans-Am to go with it, lol. The colourways on these old bikes just look so good. Like I need to put on a brightly coloured windbreaker while riding it. Thanks, I'll keep an eye on them. not a terrible price...

    1989 Specialized Rockhopper Comp rebuild/restore.

Thanks, I probably have a couple dozen hours into fixing it all up. Yea, all the Shimano parts on it are Deore II. Only year they made them before Just calling it Deore XT I think. Yea, it was garage kept at one point but some of the big surface rust spots and rusted fasteners say otherwise...

    1989 Specialized Rockhopper Comp rebuild/restore.

So I got this bike in a trade from a friend. He was gonna junk it because it needed work. Well, I stripped it down and rebuilt the entire thing. I ended up discovering that the seat post was seized. usually not a problem....except this was a steel frame and aluminum seat post and had severe...

Finds of the last couple months.

Yea, haven't posted much lately but I've been finding a few deals here and there... I got this 1989 Specialized Rockhopper Comp off a nieghbour for another bike I had. Had it a couple months. I'll post other pics of how it looks now in another thread. More recently I picked up this Huffy...

    Sweet Marie

Do it. Fenderless is freedom. Also to note, these are also CCM wheels stolen from a much older girl, early-mid 40s era. On a much younger guy from the mid 60s.

    28'' tire offerings?

I had a 700c x 32c tire among some road tires. I popped that on in the mean time. I got a bit more clearance as well. Honestly 32c might be the best size for it. I tried a 700c x 23c tire I had for giggles and the tire was lost inside the rim.

    28'' tire offerings?

The tires are also marked "F.13" which is a Canadian thing. I was going off Sheldon Brown's site by that and the F.13 version (which is 622) of the 28'' x 1 1/2'' tires is the same size, going by Sheldon's chart.

    28'' tire offerings?

Recently threw on a set of war era wheels onto a new build. Rims are 28'' x 1-1/2'' I know they're standard 700c size but I don't really wanna put a modern looking road tire on said bike. I was looking at the "Schwalbe Century" for more "old school style" options. are there any others out there...

    Before & After Pics

Before and after of a simple project I did this past weekend. I swapped the original wheelset for a pair of WWII era wheels (28''x1-1/2'' also marked as "F.13" for Canadian standards, though it's the same size as modern 700c) I had from another CCM. Did an overhaul on the rear hub as well. Rear...

Recommendations for recovering an old Troxel springer saddle?

Hm, never thought of a yoga mat. I'll have to check and see what I can find locally. Thanks for the idea.
