    Ankle Biter

This bike is the result of a long spring swap meet season. On the last day and last hour of the second Trexlertown show, a group of us were standing around a clean little bike that a friend had for sale. We were all pretty much exhausted from weeks of bike shows (Copake, Ann Arbor, Memory Lane...

    RRBBO13 Ankle Biter

So I recently found this little guy at a swap meet. I think I have a plan... ;) Stay tuned!

    Colson looptail lawn ornament

So I bought this... To get this... The bike was $20 and I've seen those little badges sell for more than that and I kind of wanted one for a while. Didn't need the bike but i figured it might look good in one of my flower beds... Hmmmm. I have this left over, now what?

    Cycle Therapy!

Cycle Therapy has been completed for a while now. I was kind of holding out for a different set of bars and trying to find time to clean up all the photobucket issues in my build thread. Build thread here - (I'm still cleaning it up)...

    Cycle Therapy

I was going to sit this one out but I've been parked on the sidelines watching you guys have too much fun. It finally got the best of me so I figured it was time to jump in... I'm doing another klunker this year. They're not super exciting visually but they are practical and great fun to ride...

    Earl Grey

Let's call this one done! Not sure what else I could do to it. I accomplished all my goals which were to do a simple, inexpensive build, use parts from my stash and not buy a single thing for it, and end up with a decent rider with a classic "bomber" look & feel to it. The bike worked nearly...

    Earl Grey

I was thinking of sitting this one out since I'm still having fun with my BONINE bike and don't really need (or have space for) another one in the fleet. After watching all the cool builds starting to take shape and all the fun everybody is having, I had to jump in with something. This time I'm...

    Defiance

In spite of all the battles I had with this bike, I had a lot of fun with it and it came out better than expected. The bike is rock solid and buttery smooth to ride. It gets plenty of attention everywhere I go with it. I hope to get some better photos of it in the upcoming days. I've been...

Bare metal builds thread - Let's see em'!

There seems to be a lot of builders stripping paint this year. Some are media blasting and some are doing it by hand. :) I wanted to try one for some time now and did it by hand to preserve all the scratches, toning, and "character marks" that would have been cleaned up by beadblasting the...

    Little Schwinn ballooner

Picked this little guy up over the weekend at the local flea market. I've wanted a cantilever frame model for a long time. It wasn't cheap but it wasn't overpriced either. Paint is a little rough on the fenders but the frame is still really nice. The serial number puts it as a late 1952. Over...

    Defiance - Aannnnnd it's done!

This year I'm doing up another klunker style bike. I'm starting off with a 1940 BF Goodrich badged Schwinn DX that I bought from a friend last fall. I hope to use these wheels that I picked up in Trexlertown last year. They are red Araya rims laced to Sturmey Archer drum brake hubs. I also...

    Trexlertown PA, Sunday October 6th

The show is October 6th at the Goodwill fire company where is has been for the last 20+ years. Always a good time! 8) Hours are 6-2 or whenever the last guy packs up and leaves. A few things to note. If you are on their mailing list you already know this: Sounds like Paul had some complaints...

    Simpleton - finished!

Add Simpleton to the "stick a fork in it" file... Build here: viewtopic.php?f=75&t=72350 It's been a rider since the end of May and I've just been out having fun with it ever since. I almost forgot that the build-off was ending this weekend and that I never put it in the finished bikes thread...

Simpleton - the straightforward straightbar! - Done!

This year I'm building a simple klunker/cruiser out of an old Schwinn straightbar frame that I've had forever and whatever parts I can dig up... So far I have this frame: This fork I found over the weekend at a swap meet: This nice B-72 (They just look right on a klunker): These old...

    1966 "Super Deluxe" violet Typhoon

A common bike in a very rare factory color with a little extra flair. 8) I usually don't take pictures of bikes at this angle but it worked here. It shows off a lot of the extra goodies on the bike, the shadow, and the matching purple "berries" on the bush in the background.

    Cool picture frame at Target

I thought it was neat anyway... Looks like an early model American with a layback seatpost and a B-72 saddle.

    Project Purple

My first build off entry. I had a great time putting this one together. It was intended to be a copy of the first violet Varsity I built shortly after RRB build off #5 but ended up being a rider for Mrs. Kingsting to enjoy. I believe this may be the first vintage lightweight resto-modded into a...

Project Purple - No longer a project.

Late to the party as usual... Anyway, some of you may remember my 1965 violet Varsity build from 2010. (Thread here) viewtopic.php?f=21&t=30169&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=violet+varsity Well, I found another one, mostly complete and a bit rusty, in a smaller frame. A recent find of an...

    Auction bike ID?

Not sure what this one is. I've seen that fork before but the truss frame is throwing me. http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/1259778/fp8.cgi It's not a Schwinn Welterweight and the truss doesn't look correct for Iver Johnson. It's some kind of industrial or trade bike.

    1933 Samsco

My first attempt at a rat bike was this old Samsco-badged Rollfast. It started out as a crusty old 28" wheel bike and whatever I could scrounge out of the parts bins. I rode it around town today and got some pix while I was out. Now I'm not sure which one to use. You folks are better at this...
