wanted to weld fender but i couldn't because it wouldn't fit down onto the tire. I had to make a bracket so it would bolt together and had to install fender and tire at the same time so it would go down on the tire, it took a few tries to get it centered right but not that bad.

My kid is turning 9 on July the 6th so he comes to me and said Dad I want to build my own Rat Rod bike for my birthday. I was so proud :D . Anyway I say pick whatever bike you want and the parts you want and I will only help when you need it. That is what he did and this is what he got. started...

it came with a bad bondo tank so I scraped that with a claw hammer.

found this one on craigslist for $10.00. It's a 1967 Schwinn stingray frame just asking for the Rat Rod treatment so it'll get it. I'm thinking - rebuild the front fork w/knobby tires front and back, single seat, and straight bars. I have these cheap purple rims off a china bike those are going...

OK here it is my first rat rod build, what a blast this was. 60ish 24" jc higgins frame w/ 26" mongoose mountain bike fork. found the seat at flea market. tires, rims, and pedals from 1966 sears donor bike. took a front and rear fender and put them together to make wrap around rear fender. old...

Moved back to NC from Sun Prairie about a 18 months ago. I loved it up there. Plan on a visit soon, maybe. Welcome

This has to be one of the most fun things I have ever done. My free time is spent going to junk shops and yard sales to find that perfect part I need. The bike keeps changing, my vision of a complete project is always hazy :? and when I stumble onto that perfect or not so perfect idea that hazy...

I've decided to give this a go and go full on Rat - Nothing, so far, is new. Everything has come via junk piles or from junk dealers. So far I have around $7.00 in the build and I just went to this giant flea market today so I have another $2.50 worth of parts for it. I'm going 20" ( sorta )...

I have an old higgins frame with the rectangle badge. It's been painted over and over but at one time it looks as If jc higgins was in black. The frame has two split backbones and it's 24". What years was this bike made. It looks as if was a tank bicycle (boys). Anyone??

When I found it the fork was rusted and broken so I had 2 old higgins frames and extra parts so I threw it together. My kids love it they call it the "Tetanus shot death trap". :lol:

Hi everyone, My kid got a new bike for Christmas and we took his old bikes and put them together ( father and son project ). We had a blast doing it so we went web surfing to see if there were anyone else who was doing this and we found this site. Were just starting out, you guys are hard core...
