    TRADITIONAL Highway Star

Hello, thanks for all of your comments and suggestions. I had the Klein out for a ride yesterday, it is fine one the street I am not taking it off road. I tried 2 different tire sizes, the 29er would not fit on the front and the 24 on the back made it look like a Harley with a moped wheel. So I...

    TRADITIONAL Highway Star

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am taking the tires off the Klein for this build. I was going to sell it but is rides nice around town, apparently not so good on the downhill😀.I found a seat, it is Dutch and weighs 4 pounds. Weight weenies cringe. It has 7 springs.

It is so true, motivation is not what is holding me up. I think it is like writer’s block only in bike terms. Part of the time I want to make look original, the other part of the time I want to chop the fenders, get rid of the chain guard and rack, put a 24 on the back and a 29 on the front😒...

    Mountain and a Roadie

Here are few new ones I found this week. It is amazing how finding new bikes slows down the progress on your build off bike. The first is a 1998 GT LTS 3000. Nice condition rides great. The second is a Lemond Zürich with a Shimano 105 group set. It is going to need some work. Happy hunting.

What have you been riding lately?

This one has not seen the light of day for about 10 years. It rides great, it was such a roach when I got it it should have been scrapped for parts. It was the first bike I fixed. It is about a 1950 Rollfast.

Thanks for all of your replies. I got started tonite by cleaning the crank and adding a different chain ring. I think it is off of a Road master? The crank cleaned up ok, it is the last dog legg I have and I will need the room for the chain guard. Thanks

    TRADITIONAL Highway Star

Hello, here we go. I have a bunch of parts without a real plan, so it will be one disaster at a time. These build offs are great motivation for getting things done. Have fun

Anybody sniffing BO 19 in the air?

This has been hanging on a hook for about 15 years. This build off might inspire me to get off my rump and do something with it. I have no idea what it might be. I have most of the pieces I need so I am running out of excuses. Now I have 2 weeks to figure it out and dig out the parts.

Ingola thanks for adding the build thread. I took it for a long ride today. The seat has to be raised other than that it rode like a KLUNKER. It is no wonder why they started suspension systems. Cheers

Thanks to Rat Rod Bikes for continuing the Build offs. They very creative and the workmanship is fabulous. This bike started off as a Murray and ended up a Kuwahara.( anything can happen in these build offs.) Thanks.

Here it is done. Another fun project. All the parts, paint and air were leftovers from other adventures. Cost $0.00. I hope everyone has is enjoying the there builds and the creativity. Cheers

Welcome to summer, it is supposed to be 65 degrees here next week, gotta love daylight savings. A little more done it the bike this week. I picked a saddle that has an adjustable width. It starts out skinny then as you get older and wider it will accommodated your new found girth. Also I had to...

Ok, starting to put it together. I am going with the small brake pads to start with and dia-comp levers. Then the Gt cranks and Diamondback pedals. I found some old school grips and bmx stem. Here it is so far

Painted l will let the paint harden for a couple of days then start putting it back together. Ingola we have had 1 week of winter so far, we need about 4 feet more of snow. With the temperatures at + 9 I don’t think we will get it.

Painting has started, spring is almost here. Yesterday I wore a t- shirt and shorts, in February in Canada whodathunkit. I guess the tires I put on it are called red walls not gum walls, my mistake. Here is a shot of the paint so far, it will be red and black when finished. This build off is...

Sanding the frame, I guess I should be thankful that the guy who painted it last, stopped painting after he emptied the first gallon of paint. I have been sanding for 2 days and it is still not ready for paint. I also found some old gum walled tires for it. cheers.

Back at it, life keeps getting in the way. The bridge for the rear brake was far too thin to drill for the brake as it was originally a coaster brake bike. I made a piece out of angle. I then cut the fork and changed the stem. It looks fine…ish but I think I will want the bars closer to the...
