what does your wife/girlfriend think of your hobby?

My wife tolerates it...it keeps me out of bars and off of street corners. (except when dumpster diving for bike parts  ) She can always tell where I am when the shop lights are on. Aaron 8)

Any Shimano 3xx rear hub experts out there?

Cable adjustment and shooting a bit of oil thru the gear plunger hole are the first steps, then ride it for a while. If it still slips it may be a broken pawl spring or a stuck pawl. They can be torn down and cleaned. I usually use Simple green, then put back together with light weight motor...

    Wheel/hub question...

I have a couple of the 333 hubs mounted on that sized wheel. They are pretty easy to come by. The kicker is finding a working shifter...the hubs are okay if they are working, but repair parts don't exist. There are plenty of Sturmey Archer 3 speed hubs out there too. I would avoid the TCS series...

Is this Sturmey Archer hub dead?

Make sure the cones are adjusted properly. Usually means they are too tight. Or that you have a build up of gunk in the hub and it could stand to be cleaned. Aaron 8)

Any tips on cutting and shortening cables

Use cable cutters, they are available from Park Tools or you may be able to find some in the tool section of your local home center. As far as the keeping the ends from fraying, you can solder them back after cutting (use flux and paste solder) or you could buy a bag of the little crimp caps...

Is this Sturmey Archer hub dead?

It allows you to take pictures really close up with out them blurring (like 6" or so close)...And why do I think this may be a mistake giving this information to the Rickster...  :P   Aaron 8)

    avatars...

If you have Microcrap Photo Editor you can open it up using that, pick "Edit" and then "resize" from the pull down window and plug in the size you want. Other wise you will need to use some other photo program. What do you have to use? Aaron 8)

    1953 SCHWINN PANTHER

After the 0000 steel wool I polish mine up with Turtle Wax Chrome polish. Brass wool is hard to find around here for some reason, as are decent small brass brushes. I used to buy them at the local Lowes home center but the stopped carrying the brass wool and the brushes now come from china and...

    FORUM COLOR SURVEY

Only problem I have is the links color is a bit hard to see on the gray background, they aren't hard to find...just hard to read what the word(s) are. Other than that I like the over all forum format and colors. Aaron 8)

like to share how I strip paint!

Well the good news is it says "Made in the USA" on it  ratrodrob, I have a monster air compressor, 80 gallon tank 7.5hp two stage. It is still sitting in the crate until I get a decent shop built to put it in. We picked it up a while back at a bankruptcy sale :D along with a few other...

like to share how I strip paint!

Kewl! I have a couple of those lying around but hadn't thought to use them. I usually use the brash brushes mounted in a drill or the wheels in the mini grinder. When I get a compressed air line in my shop it will be an air powered grinder  Aaron 8)
