The space within the forks left to right, or how wide the hub is to fit the axle of the hub to the fork. I have sized up some moped hubs but they were too wide. I did luck out and found a Raliegh moped rear hub with sprocket and drum brake that fit into the bike.

With that small sprocket and a 60 lb kid your top speed will be around 40mph. You must have good blue cross or heavy duty brakes.

Where did you find the engine? I have read about them and looked around on ebay.

Project update- Haven't really made any metal shavings. I had a kit engine that I went through and detailed but then the crank blew out in my motorbike and I was a little bummed out and didn't want to build a bike around one of the kits again. Hey that's me! Thanks for Posting Rob. This is the 2nd motorbike I built and I have been meaning to post it. I have some ideas brewing for the tank and other details and will post up as it progresses.

I used a hacksaw to cut the backside of a bulb out and put an auto spring tab style bulb socket in and it has been good for 7 years now.

Rob, I bet the parking garage has a video camera. That would be a deterrent for a thief. The completed bikes that I saw looked great. John
