    Work in progress.

So, I'm learning how to weld. I hope they hold! Bottom bracket will mount beneath the downtube about 1/3 down from the head tube. This project is a lot of fun and a huge learning process.

    Couple a' fun finds.

These were sitting outside the warehouse of a local thrift store so I had to find someone to price them for me. At 20$ each they weren't fabulous deals but not bad either. I especially like the mixte with the SA 3-peed. The pink one was worth it just for the wingnuts and the lighting system I...

    PK Ripper woes.

Oh man, I just finished reading some of the post about restoring that Hutch BMX. I am a little discouraged. I have an old PK Ripper looptail frame that I have been hanging onto in the hopes that someday I will get around to restoring it. I didn't realize that the cost of doing so would be so...

Looking for advice on 3-speed hubs.

Looking for advice on 3-speed hubs. My next project is a '65 Schwinn Hollywood that I am doing for my wife. The single speed is tough for her but she is convinced that she'll wreck anything with gears. What I need is the simplest 3-speed to operate that I can find. Any suggestions? And...

    I love wheels!

Man, I am a sucker for wheels. The bikes that stand out most in my mind and that I remember for the longest are the ones that have the crazy wheels. Where do you find these beauties? I know you can get the 144 spoke rims fairly easily, but what about mags? Are these once in a lifetime finds...

Prairie Rat a.k.a Bangers and Mash (Oct.25 done)

The name just came to me but I don't know from where. I posted pics of this earlier but still haven't done anything with it. I picked up some of the parts that I needed just yesterday. It's my first build and I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.

    How to start?

Okay, so here's a question for all you veteran ratters. What were some of the challenges of building your first rat rod, or restoring any bicycle for that matter? Was it very difficult? I would like to hear some of the stories. I admit that the learning curve has been very steep for me...

    My 50's Hawthorne project

This will be my first build. Nothings bolted on right now, but I wanted a pic of all the bits in one place. I've discovered that those rims are useless to me and need to find different ones that I can actually find tires for.

    Tire size

I am trying to determine what size tires I can use on my old Hawthorne and the best I can tell from Sheldon Brown's sizing charts, I need a 24 x 1 1/4 Does anyone know if I can use a fatter tire than that? The BSD is 547 and the inside dia. of the bead is 26 mm. outer rim is 36 mm.

    Just gettin' goin'

Hey everybody, I have had a 50's hawthorne sitting around for a while and decided that it was high time I do something with it. Then I found this place and I gotta say, I am inspired. Are there any Manitobans on the forums? I am having trouble finding a good local bike shop in Winnipeg. I...
