Say I remove the seat and seat post, will pretty much any seat work with the fitting?

Second, If I put a 20x2.3 tire on a 20x2.0 rim..etc.. will it hold up?

Third, As some of you know, My stingray was had without the rear hub gear.. If I get a new back wheel/hub and gear [thus the prior question] will it fit between the forks if its not off another 07 Krate?

Lastly, do any of you have customized 07 krates? I know they weren't Awesome with a lot of aspects, but just curious to see what some of you have done with them.
Thanks RRB.

[p.s. if any of you have the time, what do you consider the quality of the springer on the 07 krates, and is it common for 20" bike forks to NOT fit a 24" bike?]

I haven't had one of them in while but if I recall correctly, the seat post is standard 25.4 (or there abouts). It should be stamped in the post, look for it when you remove it. So to answer that question-Yes, you can change the seat & post.

To answer the second question-Yes,a 20x 2.30 tire should fit. Might have a slight fender rub issue but i'm confident that it would be minor,if any.

Third question-Yes, Most coaster brake hubs have an axle spacing of around 110-120 MM. so a standard coaster brake wheel should swap out with ease.

lastly, I had a few (bought every color when they came out). The most I did to one(black) was to change the wheel set to a matching 20" white steel wheel set front and back & a new 20" front fender. In my opinion the front 16" wheel was to low for the bike. Not only did it handle funny but also looked funny. Hope this all helps you out!

I tried to buy a black Friday krate once , apparently the guy did not
like my offer at all or the fact that it was not vintage like he was saying
and not worth $200.00 all rusted after only a couple years stored indoors.
Guess I'll have to wait for another one on CL. Oh ya I think Kreep answered all your questions .

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Im derusting the wheels now, I got lucky on the fenders and they werent pitted [YET]..I might be S.O.L. on the wheels, thus question 3 [aside from the fact, the bike was gotten without the rear HUB gear..which I dont know yet if I can find by itself and keep the original rim..]

On the subject of sizing up in the front.. it does look a little Hokey with that fender all lifted from the tire and it just.. looks cheap? I planned on maybe sizing up in the front, to an 18. just enough to have the lift, just enough to still show a little difference in height.

In regards to question two, the reason I ask, is if I DO have to find another rear wheel, Id like to still use my [oddly gently used] original Slick. which If I recal is a 20x2.13..dont know for certain..but its bigger than most 20"., of course.

Thank you so much again. Its a joy to know I can find a seat that doesnt HAVE to be stock..saves me money on the Schwinn brand.

Paying a used chinese tattoo machine bulldog knockoff for my frame was not the highest Id have paid for this 07 as it sits.. but it wouldnt have been much more. good looks passing on an 07 for 200. 150...MAYBE.. in REALLY pretty condition. [Mine was without tubes, handbars, seat and rear hub Gear -total investment.. about $55-75 total when Im done. to make it a rider, and worth looking at. :p]

p.s. about the springer.. can I remove it and put it on a 24" ladies bike? [my Otasco?] or is it JUST for 20" headtubes?

You'll have to measure the steer tube on each frame, if the lady is the same length or shorter it will work without any modification .
thats what I was afraid of. The difference is about an inch and a half. I wanted to believe in my mind somewhere, the springer was adjustable. well shoot.

No worries, plans truck along as I had figured, I just would've liked the interchangeability to boot ^.6

let me guess - the steer tube on the lady was longer, you can get a longer steer tube for the fork but another springer that will fit is just a few dollars more!

Sure was :/
I've seen a 24" springer on the bay for like 45, and they're common sellers for a few. I wasnt sure if those were the cheapy aluminum ones that fold easy or not.
Whats a new Steer tube for the springer? 30, or so?

This one is 19 bucks plus freight but in my experience you most likely will need a 90' crown as well so like I said best just buy the correct fork.

So another question develops..

And since you know these like the back of your hand ;)

The front Sprocket seems like it gets Dangerously within 2mm of the frame..on the rear side where it closes in on the wheel well. like the sprocket is set to far back on the frame by like an inch and a half.. will this develop as a problem Later?

If the chainring is getting close to the frame, look for smaller issues first. It is not likely that the bottom bracket is out of place. The 2mm gap sounds fine to me, since there isn't much flex at that point, so long as your crankset is properly adjusted. Is that while the rear wheel is tightened down? Tightening the rear wheel can pull the chainstay in a bit. Is the chainring original, and the correct size, or is it possibly bent slightly? Look at the spacing while turning the chainring to make sure the spacing is consistent. Also, the rear sprocket is probably the standard kind with 3 indentations that fit onto 3 tabs on the drive screw, and is held with a snap ring. They are plentiful in many tooth-counts and offsets.

Also masterlowrider.com has some steer tubes for a springer priced a bit lower. Depends on the length of your headtube but he has them in 5 1/2" and 8 1/2". The prices of the items aren't neccessarily much lower, but his shipping is realistic. Bicycle designer charged me $10 to ship a small part and the guy that owns masterlowrider charged me $5 to ship a pair of tires.

I appreciate your help.
Let me begin by saying Stingray 07 krates are just built chalk full of flaws.
The Original Chainring is on it, but between the frame and the TEETH of the chainring, I cant even fit a toothpick in the crevice. If the chain didnt seat right onto the ring when assembled, theres no doubt it would scrape against the rear wheel frame.

Im gonna have to get some pictures tomorrow.. It feels sturdy [as only an 07 krate can...], nothing appears Bent..all of the pieces I have are original, for this model.

I appreciate the help on the springer. I havent disassembled the front forks on this ride before, so Im not sure of the exact measurements.. but I dont assume a new 90degree bent springer would run me more than 85 shipping included. [for a part that heavy, I cant see it being much cheaper, but Ill check into masterlowrider.com, thanks again!]
