Not sure if I can pull this off,but will attempt it. Still have to come up with a name. There is only one pic of this bike on the internet with NO info on it. So I just want to re-build one the same/similar for history purposes. The names I have came up with is "1890's Something" (guessing around the year it was originaly built)or "Piggyback"(a copy,riding on someone elses's design).

All I know is that this bike was built in late 1880's or 1890's when the first pnuematic tires were made. The photo was taken in Plymouth England. Some say it is where the first slingshot bicycle design comes from??? This will have no moving parts/flex.(dont trust myself for that yet)

I cant see if anything joins the rear drops to the bottom bracket. As far as I can see,no. Just a cable

I think there is some fine cables.pic is scketchy but you can see something across his leggings. I marked with a arrow,the x is where it pivots and the single arrow points to a small spring.

My idea is to use good size heavy duty pipes,so I dont have to add the chain stays, no pivoting,just solid. Now I have to go and scrounge around for some old plumbing pipes. I have a set of fine 26" wheels,and the rest of the parts from off donars... So zero $$$$$ will be spent on this bike.

I've ridden a few Slingshots back in the day. I liked the smooth ride of this design. This frame, clearly a predecessor, is cool for sure. It may have light cables and springs like you said to hold it all from coming apart as you rode it.
I would bet that it rode with a nice soft feel..

I was wondering how it would work without falling apart. Never ridden or seen a slingshot until I came across this pic. Things are very limited here,so finding decent cables/parts would be difficult,not to mention I dont think my skills or mental machanics is at this level...

I would suspect that any building supply/home improvement store will have steel cable and the associated hardware. It is used for many structural purposes, but currently, for many aesthetic things such as cable railings and such...which has led to a lot of nicely engineered and attractive stainless steel hardware for cable applications.

Our hardware stores are not stocked like in the USA. Not on this island anyway. I have some cables but the applications?

I’m not that familiar with boats, but islands usually have lots of them, and I suspect boating supplies like stainless steel hardware and cables would be available in the appropriate shops, chandleries I think they’re called... anything like that around your way?

Myself also,nada,zero,zilch just this grainy photo. Not even a designer name. looking at the tires show me they a pneumatic but something tells me they are 28" rims?

The seat is of the typical shape still used today. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a Brooks. Unfortunately they don't have any catalogs listed between 1890 and 1907. I would also agree that they look like 28" pneumatic tires.
