Took my 30s Shelby Gambles Eagle out for first system check ride, a few miles around the neighborhood, and everything worked perfectly after a rear brake adjustment. The bumpy ride over many speed bumps was surprisingly s. Tomorrow I'll take it for a long ride with a big battery. Specs on the bike include 750 W Bafang mid drive, SA 3 speed with 70mm drum and adapted J.C. Higgins shifter, Shimano 6000 front dyne hub with band brake, and modern aluminum wheels. I got the bike with no wheels, a 50s Schwinn crank, mismatched 26 inch fenders, average period gooseneck, 40s bars and a 40s seat.

Did you paint the mid-drive unit? I have only seen them in black. Looks almost like original equipment.
Yeah, I was hoping that I could place the motor piece between the seat tube and the downtube for a really cool look, but that didn't happen. I wish there was a way to hide the brake levers. Tongshen makes a 250 W motor that works with coaster brakes (haven't tried it) I may try if I build any more. My focus has shifted to restoring antique bikes. Thanks for the interest!

Man Shelby, your restomod is very cool! Bringing antiques back to life is a much harder road to ride…
Thanks, man! I'be built a couple now and am finishing an Indian tribute/reproduction now. The 700c wheel Shelby in the pics above is a super smooth ride.
