Just picked this old thing up in a trade. Vintage Sears Allstate tires, JC Higgins SW speedo, nice Torrington stem, stainless balloon fenders. I rebuilt the rear hub and bottom bracket, added missing crossbar on h-bars and old Japanese electric horn. Pretty tough looking early balloon bike, right?
I guess it qualifies as a Rat?! LOL!

thats truly an amazing looking bike! 8) nicely aged and with all the neat parts too. spotted the lobdell triple drops right away!

That's the second Elgin on the forum this week with stainless fenders. From the looks of the rear fender, I'd say they are original prewar fenders. You've got a nice one! Gary

Very cool find Joe......I really love this style moto-frame.

Heres my '37 (Phil helped me date this awhile back) as found. I have the Elgin stamped Troxel seat for it also. I really need to get it ridable.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I like all old bikes and this one is pretty kool to look at. After reading some posts and following the links it may be a '37 not sure.
