1940-42 murray collegiate

found this jewel hidden in an ebay store,with a $199.00 buy it now or make offer! seller said it was made during the war by murray,and badged collegiate! i looked at it and my brain screamed ELGIN!!! :shock: all i know is they took my offer of $103.00,and i`m one happy camper!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

NICE FIND! That's really sweet, those curved seat tube Elgin frames have a really nice look... the bobbed rear fender is cool too. :mrgreen:

It may be a Murray as they made Elgin frames too. The chainring is Murray. Look at the pic of the Murray Mercury by Viktor Schreckenghost(Mr. Spaceliner)

Collegiates were sold by Sears too. It was a junior brand to the Elgins. I have a ladies model. (The 'Elgin' tank was an ebay find in matching color and patina!)
