Thanks to frameteam2003 for getting this north of the border. It's a 193? CWC Roadmaster or Hawthorne frame. The drop stand is from Memory Lane. The serial number is G51009. There is some original paint under the rust that will be brought out as best as can be. It's too pretty to paint!

Any info on this frame would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Re: 193? CWC frame.

The frame you have is what could be considered the second series 3-Gill frame. The 3-Gill frame, so called by collectors for the tank that fits it, was one of CWC’s longest running offerings.

The first 3-Gills were introduced in 1938 and the last were produced in the mid fifties. Second series frames are categorized by the upswept chainstays in combination with a straight downtube. By the CWC catalogs this pattern was current and offered only in 1939 and 1940 but it was probably in production before the end of 1938 and may have continued in production until the cessation of bicycle production in early 1942.

The serial number beginning with G was likely produced in mid to late 1940 based on projections from my CWC serial number model.

I'll get some other pics of the frame. I used some rust dissolving gel on it tonight, after a light turtle wax rub. I found some more green paint. The outline of the head badge is kind of a diamond shape.
