Got a call from the guy that I bought the Whizzer from giving me a heads up on this Westfield tanker at an antique shop.

I haven't found the serial yet. The seller had been told it was a 1959, but I have been told that the atomic tanks were 1948.
I can't see a serial through the BB paint and don't want to scrape it unless I am sure it's there.

It appears to be mostly original except for the wheels and pedals. The seat is a ladies Troxel
I found the horn unit rolling around inside the tank. The guts of the Delta light look decent too.

Here are some pics.

Found this info from "Mr Columbia"
"In 1948 Columbia put out 2 catalogs, one at the beginning of the year and one later on. The "Atom" design first shows up in the late 1948 catalog. It was also used on the 1949 models but was gone in 1950."

Here are two pages from that 1948 catalog.

Here is the "Special DeLuxe" that I have

And here is a higher trim level "Custom DeLuxe"

Looks like you have it nailed down. I think most flea market/antique shop vendors will just throw a date out when asked about an item, just to keep from looking dumb and saying, "I don't now".

I thought your rack had taken a beating until I saw the pics in the catalog. Interesting curves!

Thanks, these are pretty stylish and curvy racks.

Sweet example Rafael!

I have a NOS chainguard for that if you're interested.

I still can't find the serial number on mine -- please help?

I can't remember if the serial is on the rear dropout or under the bottom bracket.

My 48 Columbia has the number on the bottom bracket.
