hey
found this bike on my local CL
its been repainted and i believe the tank is a repop as well
has fenders as well but they are not original either they are painted to match though.
has an ACE chigago brass badge as well on it with an (airplane)
I cannot find the date in the database online.so i assumeits a pre 1948.
heres the serial # C62271
if anyone can help with the year maybe a vlaue
that would be kewl

Nice old dx there! Great Find! :D I found one leaning against a barn just down the road for me but, can't ever catch anyone home to ask about it. :roll: I keep cash in my pocket just in case someone's car is in the drive. :lol:

that its 1945-47?

@scott brownsey, how do u know its a 52?
i saw somewhere that the ACE badge my bike has came on 1930s - 1940s schwinns

30s early 40s had rear exit drop outs and bolt on kickstands dx wasnt built until 39 u have front exit dropouts a welded kickstand welded kickstands started in 46 and i looked up your serial number.prewar has chain adjusters.and chainguard goes over rear frame not a bracket.i have a 40dx. u can look up serial number at internet schwinn serial numbers and date codes thats what i did for you it works out to be 52 goodluck enjoy

It is confusing! And you're right, a '52 frame should have the number on the dropout. So your bike, with the forward facing dropouts, and welded on kickstand is likely from 46-48, also the first post-fire serials recorded start with D, in August 48, so it's possible yours is summer of 48. I don't think there was any bikes made besides wartime models thru 1945. -Adam

I did just that today! Thanks. Hope they call. I plan to drive out once or twice a week by their house and keep checking. It's one of those, " our barn looks cool with an old bike leaning against it" deals. They are not collectors or do they even know what they have. Just an old bike/decoration to them. I bet I can score it eventually. :mrgreen:

very cool. i have one badged B.F. Goodrich.
i need to figure out the year of.was tol 1948..but, haven't researched yet.

I guess ill go with rustinkeeper, and say its a 46-48

What a difference removing the nerdy basket, adding fender, and lowering the seat makes
still more changes comming, need peedles for one
