Fellow DHP (Dry Heat Panzers VW club) member - John's 1950 Schwinn Tornado how I got it. He wanted it re-done and to match his Type 3 Ghia. Here's how I got it.
This is what it wouldve originally looked like from Schwinn. It was a kids bike.
Not too bad but not what he wanted.
The springer after some treatment.
Speedshack is a VW resto shop in Tucson owned by some friends. They rebuilt John's engine and the sticker also matched. Win - win.
Here it is after. Re-powdercoated. New true black chain. Regreased, Cleaned. Etc etc... Banged it out til 3AM (night of my bday) to have done by 530AM to deliver back to Tucson.
A happy "kid". I call him Kenny Rogers Roasters. Dont know if he likes that I call him that.
