1950s? Murray Meteor Flight

I got a chance at buying this bike for just 100 euros
What can the experts over here tell me about it
The guys says its from the 50s
He says its al complete, the lights just need rewiring

I don't know much about value, especially for classic Americans in Europe, but that is definitely a rad ride. The rocket device (horn?) on the bars is really really really cool, so are the pedals. I wouldn't hesitate to spend a over $250 for that bike if it showed up in my Canadian listings

That's a low price for Europe. I'd be wary of a scam. It also might be an early 60's bike, but still easily worth what you quoted. Some parts aren't correct but still it's well worth it at that price.

Yeah i'm gonna check it out, the add also states that the front and rear light were added later and my guess is the wheels arent original. The rims look like new aluminium double walls to me.

But for that price, a bike with a tank, rear carrier, what looks to be Continental retro tires and hey, it's red! What could possibly go wrong

Mid-60s for sure, but still a very desirable bike, even here in North America. Overseas, that's got to be crazy rare!

Snagged it for 80 bucks after grinding his gears
Light is missing the lens and the wheels are new alu wheels but that doesnt bother me, great base for a ratification

This is the framenumber, does anyone know where i can find a list to research the real age?

That's a great deal. Any batteries in the tank? If so, they need to come out because of corrosion. Some of the old D cell batteries had a 2 digit date code on them.
As for the Murray serial number, the lists I have dug up all go by a MO (Murray of Ohio) followed by another letter. Sears sold Murrays and had a stock number that could be tracked by their catalogs. Is there an MO anywhere on the bike, should be above the axle left of the other numbers.

"In 65 they were changing there serial number style and by then they were on the left rear dropout. Some 65 bikes had an MO5 which stood for Murray of Ohio 1965. After these 3 digits was a 2 or 3 digit model number followed by and X and a 1 or 2 digit number.
MO5 = 65
MO6 = 66
MO7 = 67
MO8 = 68"
