I'm building this bike for my friend nick. He bought it at a bike show and wanted some more versatility with it and wanted to put in an 8 speed internal coaster brake hub.
i relaced the original schwinn rims with new black spokes dusted with a mixture of red and brown paints fot eh rusted look. I originally planned to use a set of old lobdel ladies flipped bars but couldnt use them due to the shifter not haveing enough room on the bar. i plan on putting a stickshift on through the horn button hole. until then this is how it will be. i stripped the tank and light top and repainted and distressed them to match. i removed the rack for a more "streamlined" look. i also installed a push-button led in the headlight housing. i also flipped the yolk of the front fork steer tube to rake the front out without having to cut or weld anything.

this is a pic of it before he bought it.....

Sweet work going on with this build!!!

That bike is beautiful 8) ...perfect blend of new with the old without overdoing it.

This thing looks awesome! I love the colors you picked for the tank and the chain guard. Did you shorten the spring on the springer fork? It looks like it has a little more rake than a standard springer?

No I didn't. . . The steer tube yolk is offset, I just turned it backwards and bolted it back on

Awesome fauxtina work on this build!
That is exactly the feel that I want on the graphics I plan to add to FireWing.

i sprayed windex on the tank first and layed the (negative) decal on and sprayed the white paint over the windex for a splotchy look. as the paint was tacking i sprayed orange over it and gave it 20 minutes to dry. after that i wet sanded it with 800 grit.

OK, can you tell us how you aged the decal too? Sanding?
