I was looking for a somewhat serious roadbike when I saw a local ad for this. I saw it in person and the whole modern lightweight roadbike idea was gone. The derailleurs and the seat are what did it for me. Sorry for the blurry pics. My camera wont focus anymore. It has amazing original paint. The fork darts and the stripes on the top tube are hand painted. I was going to make a single speed out of it and maybe weld on a tab for disc brakes and swap out the wheels for some modern deep v rims. When I got it home, the bike just kept getting better. I was trying to describe the crazy derailleurs to my brother over the phone, but wanted to show him a picture. I looked for them on ebay and it turns out they are worth something. I also did some research on the actual bike and found that it was made in 1960. Schwinn made their first first continental in 1958, but was unsuccessful. None were made in '59. They brought it back in 1960. I am going to leave the bike as is and just ride it. The rear derailleur took a bit of work. It was rusted together. It works now and everything else was already good. The toe clips are cool too, but I hate using toe clips.

I know it's not really a rat and I am not going to make it one, I am just excited. :D

Whammy bar shifter on the seat tube. Crazy 3 speed style chain on a rear derailleur. IDEALE leather saddle Really blurry, sorry.
