There is a guy offering me a 24" Schwinn fleet with tank, says it's "mint" in trade for my Schwinn Klunker 5 that is rusty and well... rusty.

I would feel really bad parting out the Klunker, but I don't think it would hurt bad to part out a 24" Fleet. It's just that I'd like to make some money to sink in to my moped.

Thoughts?

Should I just try to sell the Klunker 5 on eBay since a few weeks on Craigslist has gotten me nowhere. I just don't look forward to packaging/shipping this thing.

Sell the Klunker 5 on ebay, unless you are looking for a rider for one of your kids.

Here is one that I used to have.

I have cleaned the paint and polished it, haven't touched the rust, but cleaned the chrome still on it. I put a chain on it and it is rideable except for the seized brake cables.

Original tires still holding air, haven't taken them off to see if they are the original tubes.

Positron 5 speed shifts well.

I understand it's the same bike as the Spitfire 5 or Cruiser 5 except for the chain guard, but not having seen another Klunker5 complete, I'm just curious about a price difference.

I don't think there would be any noticeable price difference between the three.

Of the 3, the Klunker is the most rare since Schwinn was given a "cease and desist" on the word Klunker. That's what I'm hoping to bank on.

You sir, are correct on that one! What year is your clunk? (Build date) I love me some Schwinns!

Pretty sure it's '77, I need to get the serial number off of it, so I just went outside to get it: JP524765 So that would make it a September 1978... hmmm....
