Just picked this sweet ride today. all original down to the tires missing the chain guard.

Nice first-year Schwinn Fastback, "Sprint" sprocket. All the correct stuff is there other than the guard.

Not sure what's up with the odd axle nut but otherwise it's excellent.

Nice 1st year fast back. The seat is cool, but is not correct, the early Fastbacks used a deep tufted silverglow, but the one you have looks cool but is from a mid 70's Schwinn. Love them early style handle bars. Cool ride, nice score!

It looks like that axle nut might be for one of those tall flag poles that they put on bikes It looks like you could slip a flat piece over that bolt with a hole & slot in it.

That funky axle nut is what is left of a rear deraileur guard. I have 2 blue Fastback chainguards if you still need one. LMK as I like to do trading. Kevin

Nice fastback. Looks good except the seat and rear tire. They didn't use slik tires until '67 on the fastbacks.
