Based on the 3 speed SA hub this is a 1971 Armstrong. It appears to be a lower end Raleigh factory product, based on the brief mention on Sheldon Brown. I stumbled on it at the Brimfield Antique fair this weekend in MA. Heh, it had a sign on it that said $10 OR after 4PM it was free!! But that was two hours away and a few guys had already said they'd be back for it so I coughed up the $10! I've never had a brit bike (Still pretty new to this!) Figured for the SA hub it was worth it.

I actually like the patina and it was lugged frame. I really like the way they wrote 'Armstrong'. So I thought I might try to rod it. I wanted to go with fatter tires, but don't think I can on these rims. QUESTION, is there any bigger tire option for English 26X1 3/8 rims?

Other than a popped rear tire (Sidewall blew out when I inflated it!), missing shifter and cable, it is in pretty good shape and has cleaned up well.

The other scores were a pair of whitewalls (for S7 rims , which I have none of yet! I hoped they would fit the 1 3/8 wheels. Nope.), white troxel seat with no tears, some drop bars and a free set of MB/hybrid sized wheels with interesting gumwall tires.

Check out the 'S' tread in these gumwalls. Anyone know what their from? These are pretty beat, but I'd like another set sometime!

Last thing I grabbed was some very old tan embossed leather. I big ol piece! I think if I wrap that white troxel I got in this stuff, and then rum fat gumwalls on black rims, it'd be a pretty good look for this bike! Maybe leather bar wrap?
