I didn't know what it was either! I just couldn't resist being a smartallick. But here's a few things I have learned from lurking around this site. There are a whole lot of people here who are hugely competent when it comes to bikes. I've also figured out that one of them, deorman, is a man of few words and prefers sending helpful links! In fact, I sense one coming! :D And I've been compelled to google "biopace" because of his comment and learned this:

In my own words: I do believe that Biopace chainrings are non-round, elliptically shaped, eggshaped kind of things, i.e. "bent"? I can't really see it in the pics but would assume this technology would be more likely seen on the mountain bike pic and not the older three speed. As I understand it, the premise would be that you'd power over the tall ends of the egg while you're in the power stroke when your cranks are horizontal with the ground and then have an easier time of pedaling through the shorter, narrower part of the eggshape while your pedals are more vertical, when you can't provide as much power to the stroke. In theory, the whole 360 movement of the pedaling would provide equal power all the way around? Hopefully someone else will do a better job explaining this than I. I was just trying to add my strange sense of humor with my original reply. Must be the change in air pressure as Hurricane Earl approaches! No spray painting for me this weekend. Drats!

Bio Pace Chain rings are Oval in shape .. I learned that years ago when they first came out..LOL..Thanks for the heads up..

The worst is the chainrings that look like the teeth have been bent or broken off....and they are supposed to look that way!

Yeah, Biopace wasn't the first elliptical sprocket setup, but they're definitely the most common. As for the funky short teeth, it takes less pressure to move to the next ring, and on the front can control what part of the stroke you're on when it changes.
