Just scored this off of CL, 2 hour roundtrip drive, luckily I missed all the traffic too. I was putting more air in the rear and the tube sprung a leak, so I couldnt ride it. Looks all original, I'm not sure about the seat or hunt wilde grips though. I think its a 1970 as it has a bike registration that expires in june of 71. I included a pic of the tag under the seat. All I could make out is Moscow. Tires have some cracking but I'm hoping there still usable. One pedal is missing the cool redline blocks, the other isnt in great shape either. Missing rear fender but I'm almost thinking fenderless is the way to go anyways. Will clean up real nice, I cant wait to tear into it.

Really?? Thats a bummer...was it on craigslist? I already did a little cleaning, looks like its going to clean up nice, I'll be sure to post pics

I have a couple questions:

1. How to I protect the screen on the chainguard? I know most people clear coat over it, how do I go about that?
2. Would it be bad if I repainted the redlines on the tire since they are gone or faded to pink?

I pulled the rear wheel off to put a new tube in it so the tire doesnt get any more damaged sitting flat all winter. The rim strip was in at least 5 pieces, the parts that were left on the rim had every single nipple poked through so thats how it popped. I replaced the tube and strip and washed the tire. Turned out real nice. Also mounted the sissy bar on the axle where it belongs. Did a test spot on the rim and the chrome is very nice. Also no date on the hub.
