Re: 26 inch Stingray?

I haven't, but I have all the parts to do a 24" Krate with a 20" front. Trying to decide if I want to build it.

Re: 26 inch Stingray?

Here ya go, built for TDF complete w/wheelie bar.

Re: 26 inch Stingray?

Did Brayden's bike make you jealous?!
Why not go 'Krate' Cherry Picker sty-lo...
Originals ran what? A 16 x 1.75 front with a 20 x 2.125 rear and a 24" springer.
To keep proportions, you could run:
24 x 2.125 (or 26") Jerald Sulky slick on the rear with a 20 x 1.95 front on a 26" springer.

A 5-speed freewheel, drum brake up front.
A nice deep red paint job, a bobbed chromed ducktail rear fender, I could go on....

You should definitely build it, I would definitely help!
I like spending other people's money

Righteous :p

We should get together this week and start the drawings! I shouldn't have to spend a dime for the build off considering I have every part I need and more so I hear some side project action!!!!!

And yes Brayden's bike opened my eyes to another style of sweet rides. I fixed up that 20" Huffy Desperado that I bought at Josh's meet. It looks great but a 6'2" ish body just does not agree with a 20 inch bike!

Be on the look-out for a 24 inch Schwinn! we can go from there!

We should be able to get together, with rain coming, there's not much else to do.

At my 5'9", 24 is fine, at your 6'2", well.....we'll see

Talk to you soon.

Cheers,
Dr. T

All I'm looking to do is replicate a 20 inch krate on a 24 inch frame. The Jerald sulkey in the back and 20 in the front is a great idea. I can get a repop springer to go on it aswell. No big deal. Right?

Ive been toyin with this idea also. I want a krate just cause well there cool :p but just like you said im a big guy and ridin a bigger one would be better, my plans are basically right in line with what Dr. T suggested :)

What the OP said about proportions is key here. Schwinn made 24" Mantas and Sears sold 24" Spyders, but in my opinion anyway, they never looked quite right... the banana seat and the apes just need beefy tires, and those bikes came with skinny little 1 3/8 tires if I'm not mistaken. The ones on this page, though, done with nice big fat tires, look pretty sweet... I'm particularly impressed by the green Manta-based one, which just seems to nail the proportion issue.

(i never looked into these much myself simply because at 5'6" i have no problem riding a 20" with the seat and bars up...)

/my $.02

here's the one i've played with off and on. really more a copy of the 24" sears muscle bike i had

i'm a half tad further along than this pic, but it's the last one i took of it. as was mentioned 24" frame, 26" fork with 20" wheel.
