26" Looptail (1983 Jamis Boss)

For some reason I had to have it. Likely going to be parting it out (minus some bits I'm keeping). Riding it today though and beside the funky seat, it rides really well.

Real nice bike, I only have a chainguard for one of those so it's nice to see the whole bike that it goes with.

I just got a Jamis Taxi frame. It looks just like this. Mine is pretty trashed though.

1983 was the first year Jamis produced the BOSS cruiser. The court docs say the TAXI was built in 1980 not the BOSS.

On Jamis' website it says it the other way around with the BOSS being intro'd in '80 and the TAXI later.

I would go with the validity of the court docs - bottom line, you have an all original, first year BOSS Cruiser - if not collectable yet, still very cool!

BTW - the court case was about ROSS claiming Jamis stole the ROSS Diamond Cruiser design for the BOSS cruiser - pretty interesting if you can get through all the legal speak

Interesting stuff. Maybe I'll try to sell it on the bay first with a reserve and see if anyone bites.

In the mean time, I've put about 20 miles on it and getting used to it. I haven't done any maintenance yet and I need to do that before I try to sell it.
