27" S-6 Tires

I am fixing up a '70 Schwinn Suburban for a friend. It has 27" S-6 wheels. Are those like the 24" and 26" S-6 wheels and need special tires or do the 27" S-6s fit standard 27" tires?

are they actually stamped s-6 ??? if so theyre probably 26" wheels, the 27" schwinns ive messed with just used standard 27"x1-1/4" tires.

i think some of the TALL frame road bikes may have been 26" wheels though you may want another opinion on that.

I'm currently working on a Suburban. 27X11/4" tires from wallyworld fit right on.

guess it shows im not much of a road bike guy :lol: as long as the tires you get have that "630" # on them they should fit those rims, thats the bead diameter

The only 27" that doesn't fit ISO 630 are old Swedish bikes, they're 631. :shock: :? :roll: Oh, and turn of the (last) century 27" x 1 1/2", you're not likely to run across those. :lol:

You can also use 27 x 1-1/8 (They will fit but are a bit narrow.) or 27 x 1-3/8" (may rub on fenders if they're knobbies.) tires on a Suburban.
