Thanks, I was wondering if you were going to chime in on this build.

I finally made some time to try and catch up on the winter build off bikes. Very glad that I did!!!!!

Yeah I know all about sag, thanks. I'm sure it's going to be a factor in my setup but right now I'm more focused on getting the stance right for the photo than I am dialing in its downhill performance. I'm super excited to take it for a ride and see how it is. I sold my carbon fiber Ibis last fall so maybe this will become my new ride for the trails.

This winter has been absolutely brutal for trying to work out in an unheated space. This is the forecast for tonight. I like the part where it says feels like -5, id say that's about right.. It would be so nice to be able to work in a space where it doesn't hurt just to touch metal. I am literally working in a freezer. Working in a refrigerator would be an upgrade.

Lol wasn't talking about performance, just thinking about the lines when laden. This is such an excellent project.

OMG I'm so close to just quitting. I've been wrestling with the alignment of this thing for like 4 hours. I had it all together as a roller yesterday but I wasn't happy with the rear triangle lines

and I had to tweak some alignment issues, and now it's just a pile of crap. I guess this is why people use bike jigs when they're trying to lineup their frames.

OK I'll stop whining now. I decided it was time to stop playing around with the alignment and get serious. I think it's pretty darn accurate now. At least as accurate as other Elgins from 1936. I'm glad I fixed the angle of the rear sweep it looks much better now to me. And here's a little video of the suspension in action. I can tell it's gonna be quite a bit of R and D to get it to work properly but that's probably gonna have to wait until after the build off to really sort it.

Not a ton of dramatic looking progress today but I'm laying the groundwork for the front and rear suspension and it's coming together well. I'm hoping that by tomorrow I have a rideable bike and then I can spend Tuesday accessorizing and photographing.

It's supposed to shoot up to 20ﾟ today but still feels like negative 5 right now. I really thought by waiting till the end of the Winter it would be warmer but no such luck.

So I was working late in the garage Just plugging away on the bike and I got to a point where I was pretty confident I could get it all assembled for tomorrow. .I had left my dog Shaggy in house since it was like 3ﾟin the garage and I was tired of watching him shiver. As soon as I got outside I noticed this blood splatter all over the snow. Shaggy has this thing that he always has to prove that windows, doors and walls are not things that can contain him Apparently he smashed one of the windows and then proceeded to step on the broken edge and it looks like it hit him in the face too, there's just blood everywhere. I'm at the emergency that clinic right now. I'm pretty sure hes going to be fine but this is going to be expensive and I'm probably not going to be finishing the bike now. This is where I had it when I left.

Thanks it came out pretty much exactly how I was picturing it. The fork looks a little chunky and I need to add a stabilizer loop to keep the front wheel fromJust flopping around side to side But the Spring reaction feels pretty good , it's nice and progressive.
