So I've been wanting a pair of the 3G 57mm wide wheels for awhile now. On 3G's site its says the front hub is spaced at 110mm., rear at 116mm. The rears not really an issue, but I'm curious if anyones run into issues with the fork? Modern spacing is 100, but vintage forks are closer to 95. Is the 110 really necessary? Those who have the wheels, are there spacers behind the lock washer that can be removed, or is the hubs o.l.d just 110?

Junky Rusty Bikes also offers a 57mm wide rim, but with normal hub spacing front and rear. So i'm curious as to why the wider hubs from 3G if the rims themselves are the same width.

I searched the site first for an answer on this with no luck. Hope I'm not asking something thats been gone over.

They 26" copper 3G rims went right in the forks with no problem. The 24" red rims also. The old forks have some give for wider axles.

I did the same with my favorite Schwinn, with 26 x 2.125 Typhoon cord tires, fast bike. I caught up with a road bike on a bike path at 20 mph! I let off of course and coasted for a mile. Those aluminum rims really helped, never could get that much speed with steel wheels.

Awesome. Thank you @Wildcat ! Figure if I stick with a blade style fork, I'll be alright. The rat trap on my spaceliner needed a little aide from a dremel to comfortably take a modern front hub. I've yet to see the 3Gs in person, but I'm guessing there are spacers between the cone and lock nut i can remove/change if I really need too. I'm probably over thinking it, ha. Appreciate the reply!

No, I don't remember any spacers, but the nuts on the cones were fairly thick, you could replace them with some thinner nuts to narrow them down some.

I don't remember any issues when I mounted mine on VerBoten
