3G Deluxe converting to 57 MM Rims

I have a nice 3G 3 sp Newport. I've wanted the sweet 57 mm cooper rims since the first time I saw them. I just noticed 3G offers the copper rims only.

My question is will the existing spokes work on the wider copper rims?

I e-mailed 3G, 57 mm won't fit, too wide. It appears the Newport Deluxe has wider wheel/tire spacing. The std 31 mm coppers are a match to the stock rims.

Saw a 7 speed Newport Deluxe with copper rims at the oceanfront yesterday. I want! Even has disc brakes.

Did 3G think you were using the same size tires? I used the 57mm copper wheels on my old Schwinn with 2.125 tires and they fit. Any larger tires and they wouldn't work. Also did the same on my old CWC. 57mm is only 2.25 inches wide. Maybe they thought you wanted to use the wider tires too.

2.125 tires on those 57mm wheels looked good and weren't much wider than the 57mm.

gotta stick with the Boas . The 31mm coppers look good enough. I really like the 8 speed. Might sell this one and move up.
