I just picked up a Schwinn 10 speed bike at a yard sale.
The rear wheel has a pretty good bend in it ... but rideable.

Can I put one of my 7 speed wheels on it with out changing everything else?
Will it count the 5 speeds & leave the other 2 alone or will it get lost trying to shift & not know where it's at?

Thanks for any input ... eddielives

Depends on what kind of shifter and derailer you have. As long as the shifter isn't indexed (clicks for each gear) it should be OK. Same with the derailer. The derailer might need to be adjusted in order reach all the gears.

I built a bike for my wife using a '68 Breeze frame, '77 Suburban shifter and derailer, and a 700c wheel set from a '10 Schwinn Gateway. The shifter catches all 7 gears and she says it rides great.

You were right ... I put the 7 speed wheel on last night & I do have all 7 speeds. So now instead of it being a 10 speed bike it's 14 speeds.
