50s Columbia???

A friend of mine picked this up - what is it for sure?

Probably 50's, but they continued selling bikes that style in the very early 60's. There were some "retro" bikes made later with the same main frame, but you clearly have an original model.

that looks very similar to my Columbia built Goodyear Hi-way patrol special

after i saw you - lewis and i went to a guy's place and i picked up a 38? colson, some triple step wheels, 20" nos tires (i forgot to see the mfg - they're ballooners) some fenders w/ flat stays and misc stuff. i'll post the smallhaul in a few days. i think i saw a posting of a swap meet in chicago on the 15 of august. if i'm not working that weekend - i'm going.
