53 Schwinn wasp finished!

starting to build an old wasp so here is what it looks like now. have the permission of my wonderful wife to tarp off the half remodeled bathroom for a paint booth, its a little hard to paint out in the shop/ barn this time of year since it only has wood heat!

Looks like a nice start Troy!
Good on your wife for giving you permission to tarp up the bathroom! It sure is good to have an understanding wife when building bikes!

got it striped down and had some funn with the crown nut being rusted in place a little liquid wrench and some time was all it took though. found another small section of swollen tube from water damage so cleaned them real well peened them inward used a little brass to fix the crack then lead to flow them smooth. the damage affected a very small amount of the tube so it should be very strong. the bike was stored untarped outside for at least 10 years

this is one of the frame repairs will sand it smooth when I sand the frame tomorrow

the roundish section in the middle is were the split was

OK, ready to paint, well almost! frame is sanded and ready and even found a little Schwinn patch work

some of the brass work on the frame

and a pacman on the bottom of the Hanger? this was under all the old paint!

thought about just a clear coat on the frame and clear coating the rest of the parts as is but already bought the paint and think it will look sweet with a rusty red gloss base and white trim

Thanks Luke its got the primer on it and am fighting the urge to shoot the rust red finish before the 48 hour cure time on the primer. have stencils of the paint detail on the top and down tubes and am looking for a good clean Schwinn emblem to go on the chain guard. I have the decal paper but no clean emblem picture.

well the red paint is done and has been curing for 3 days so will mask it tomorrow and paint the white. the fenders are ready to go next

white is done! will paint small parts next week and start putting it together

have a little touch to do in a couple spots
