Saved this bike as seen from a scrap yard here in southern Oregon, I also have a very large pile of "scrap" parts from early skip tooth era and a bit later bikes up to 60s so this will be a full blown rat bike by every definition nothing will be new on it only cleaned and greased, it's my first complete rat build in about 2 years I got it all mocked up tonight on the stand. Here is a before and a current after mock.

CRASH: Great job on that baby! I watched that build in progress in the muscle build off.
 
Those early AMF cantilevers had just about the same geometry as the CWC frames from the 50's, a better riding position than the other 50's bikes I think. Yours probably had a star sprocket originally. Here's mine from an earlier build off:
