Just traded for this '60s Hiawatha(Murray-built) cruiser a couple days ago. It's in really good shape. Chrome is in really nice shape and will glow with a little polishing. Only one small ding in the rear fender. It didn't have a seat so I threw an older Persons on it that seems to look fine. Tires are brand new Sun 26x2.125 that just barely fit inside the middleweight fenders. I like the look of the tight fit. I'll have to see how badly they rub(or if) and decide if I'll swap them out.

Anyway...to the pics. I traded this Schwinn road bike straight up for the Hiawatha.

Re: Fresh Trade/Find '60s Hiawatha

That Hiawatha is very nice. Trades are great cause you generally walk away happy and not a dime out of your pocket.

You made out like a bandit. Squeeze those fenders a little and their radius will increase. You will get a few rocks stuck in the gap occasionally but it looks like they will work.

Re: Fresh Trade/Find '60s Hiawatha

Thank, guys! I know there's nothing really special about the bike, but it was a nice surprise. I was just trying to sell the road bike on CL and a guy contacts me and asks if I'd be interested in a trade. Also, it's my first old cruiser "find" since moving from WI to CO.

Sweet score!! I think you came up a little better on your side!

I feel like I got the better deal, but he was the one that made the offer and seemed very pleased at the time of the swap. I guess that's all that matters. Besides that, he seemed like he just isn't into cruisers. Just like I'm not into road bikes. That Schwinn could have been mint and I would have traded. 8)

Is there any way to narrow this down to a particular year with the serial number, or is it just a guessing game?

Looks like it is WG3605 1 173432
