Here's a '63 Huffy (serial # 3H080663), apparently with its original fenders, handle bars, chain guard, chain ring, etc. It's a cruiser with big 26 inch tires. Was there a name for this model? What's up with this funky front wheel hub? What about the lamp? Thanks! 8)

Thats a Schwinn drum brake hub......probably an S2 rim also. Nice find

I was just about to say the same thing. It might be a valuable part. I do really like the design of these Huffy cantilever frames. It has a compact and fast look to it. Looks like fun!

Re: '63 Huffy original found

Looks like a rotten Delta light from the same era. It would look good on my Jag.

Re: '63 Huffy original found

Thanks for the good news! A closer look shows it is for sure a Schwinn S2. Do you suppose the wheel is a complete original (hub, spokes, rim)? 8)

My 62 Huffy was saved from the scrap pile. Looks like yours. Mine came without wheels , these here were put on for the photo.

It was my first time since I was a kid in the 60's to make a Rat Rod. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt19 ... ffy-02.jpg.

Tires are 2.125 and they seem to be chubby for this frame. Your bike is the first time I've seen the chain guard, now I know what to look for.

They are cool bikes with big tires. These were built as middle weight bikes. You can get 26x1.25's on them without rubbing if you use a tire that has tread with a rounded shoulder. Also modern Kenda 26x1.25 tires seem to be a little smaller than the old balloon tires of the same size and fit nicely. Fenders need to be pretty straight also.

Heres my 1960 Huffy cantilever with a set of old Goodyear 26x 1.25's on it.

Re: '63 Huffy original found

I found two 26 x 1.75 wheels next to this bike. One is badly damaged, possibly related to the bent rear fender on the Huffy. The other wheel may have been intended as its eventual replacement, but it is slightly bent. The wrecked wheel has a complete Bendix RB2 assembly but no tire. The other has a Good Year Wing Foot 175 whitewall tire (26x1.75) and an empty RB2 hub. The Schwinn balloon tire wheel on the Huffy will be removed and kept with the '49 Schwinn! Sorry about the crappy picture quality. Thanks for the insight, fellas. 8)
