Picked up this 75 Schwinn mini Scrambler for my grandson to ride when he is here. Been working on it whenever I get a little free time here and there.
Appears everything is there except for reflector on the front on the stem and the back of the seat. The fork was bent in but I got that straighten out stripped everything painted down to bare metal. Everything chrome had some rust and black paint on it.
most of the chrome came out a lot better than I thought it would. Next thing I worked on was getting everything primed and ready for paint. While I was waiting for primer to dry I went ahead and cleaned up the bearings that the grease and dirt had hardened.
thought I got some after pics of the bearings but guess not.last weekend I got paint and clear on the frame, fork, and fender
then today I started putting everything together and almost finished it except I need to get my daughter to cut my stencil out on her cricket for me.
I decided not to recover the seat wasn't in too bad of a shape few small tears but should work fine. The pedals despite being wore down still spin good and I picked up a 16" bike for cheap to use the wheel set until I get a chance to rebuild the original wheels that was on it. The rear needs bearings and is missing a spoke the original tires was still on it but are toast so will also need tires. Front just needs a cleaning and regreasing plus tube and tire. That's where I am at right now.
