This one sort of came to me this week...no hunting involved.

From what I can tell it's a 1980 Motomag sans coaster brake hanger. This may be my next project. :D

That will be a project. Looks like you might figure out how to get some rechroming done.

That is cool Mongoose is imprinted on most of the parts.

I was tempted to go with candy blue or red, but then I thought...hmmm, don't see too many yellow ones around. :)

Does the rear end look like its pushed over a little towards the drive side in this pic to anyone else ? Could just be the camera angle but i'd hate to have it painted/powdered if it needed a little tweaking first. There was a kid rocking a white and green mongoose similar i was drooling over yesterday. Fix er up Steve !!!

I guess I'll have to give a closer look this evening....it wouldn't surprise me.

Thankfully the seat clamp alone is worth what I paid for it.

I noticed it looked a little tweaked to..but could be the photo..? I would do it in White..!

The stem and the seat post came out pretty easily.

Unfortunately the seat tube has a split in it from the seat clamp being overtightened.

I've looked at the back end of this thing from several angles and it doesn't look like it's bent. If anything, it looks like they welded the brake bridge on a little crooked. Maybe yall can see it better than me.

Ha Ha...yeah rust.

Here she is after a little dish soap and water...some rubbing compound would probably do a lot for this paint too.

that explains what i thought i saw, i was using the brake mount a "square" spot, it looked like the piece between the seat stays and seat tube were at an odd angle ... paired up with the rust pop looking spot next to the seat tube i was thinking it may have been bent. wasnt trying to nitpick, i just know how frustrating it is to bend something after the paints done

at least with getting it powder coated theres not much cleaning you need to do

Yeah...it's still one of those deals where you look at it and think...hmmm...is it really straight or not?

Before I go doing any powder coating I think I'm going to try my hand at building a transition bike...Femco wheels, 2.125" knobbies....banana seat.

Want to see if I can make it look like some kid threw it together in the 70s and was racing it at Scot Breithaupt's B.U.M.S. track.

Managed to get it broken down today...in my blazing hot Texas garage!!!!!

The good news is...what I thought was a cracked seat tube was actually not cracked at all...it was just the paint! :D
