Cool a real boardwalk. So is it everyday that bikes are allowed up until noon? About how long is the boardwalk?
Thanks.

The boardwalk runs for 2.5 miles from the North end of the town to 23rd Street. From June 1st to September 20th you can ride a bicycle or surrey on the boardwalk between the hours of 5:00 - 12:00 AM. The rest of the year I think they're allowed all the time. Theres also bike paths in the area that i didn't get a chance to ride. ( more info on that here http://bikeocnj.org/ ) Maybe I'll try them out on my next day off... 8)

I grew up going to Virginia Beach, they have an extensive bike friendly (concrete) boardwalk. I just talked to a friend yesterday who went the other week and he said there are some really cool bike out there now.

Man thats nice, I have to ride in the rode. What can I say south Alabama isn't very bike friendly yet.

I think we all need to realize that bike friendly town are the exception not the rule. We hear about them alot on bike forums, but for every story about a bike friendly place, there are hundreds of untold stories of bike-unfriendly places. I was riding my bike on the sidewalk yesterday for lack of a bike lane, a greenway, a rails-to-trails, a bike path, a shoulder of the road big enough to ride on, or drivers who know it's not ok to almost sideswipe you. All the time I was thinking about how many people would say it's not ok for bikes to ride on the sidewalk, but when the walk ran out and cars weren't giving me enough room to make bar adjustments over bumps I think more people would welcome bikes on the sidewalk.

I've been riding my bike to church every Sunday its not raining. Its little less that half sidewalks, but those side walks are in such bad condition its tough. Nothing like having to duck under trees and bushes or go around a car parked in a driveway smack in the middle of the sidewalk. If I had a place like that I would take the family out and cruise it all day.
